The Hair Academy has recently hosted its third Annual Hairdressing Competition which saw some spectacular hairdressing styles and techniques. Full time and part time Hairdressing students studying at North Devon College competed for several awards which came with some great prizes thanks to competition sponsors Aston & Fincher and Schwarzkopf.

North Devon College (NDC) has welcomed a report which calls for a 'needs-based' approach to funding new college buildings. The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) was due to provide £90 million towards the Barnstaple-based college's new campus but the funding body advised NDC to put work on the project on hold late last year.

Students who are studying a 2 year 14-16 Vocational Catering course at North Devon College, as part of their school programme, enjoyed the opportunity to visit Jaime Olivers 'Fifteen Cornwall' Restaurant near Newquay. Fifteen Cornwall is part of a global social enterprise, founded by Jamie Oliver in 2002. It is an inspiring restaurant in a stunning location, but at the heart of it all is a chef training programme with a simple mission - to empower young people who are in need of a second chance.

At North Devon College we are aware how important it is to try and reduce our Carbon Footprint. This is why our Motor Vehicle Department jumped at the chance to work with ASNU UK Ltd - the manufacturer and supplier of the worlds leading injector servicing and diagnostic equipment systems - to establish if servicing of injector valves alone on petrol injector engines would reduce the level of exhaust pollution and improve the engines efficiency.

Huge congratulations must go out to all of the Triathletes from the North Devon College Triathlon Club, who took part in the recent Aquathon held at West Buckland School. Students competed against 20 others in a testing 400 metre swim and a challenging 3.5km run really testing all of the athletes' fitness.

Student athletes from North Devon College have continued to reap the benefits from the opportunities provided to them by the Sports Performance Academies. This month alone five athletes have undergone England Colleges trials for their respective sports.
