Luke Green

Luke studied Foundation Art and Design course at College in 1996 and after completing the course, went on to Plymouth University where he achieved a HND in Art and Design with Graphics.
After working freelance for Plymouths Art Department, Luke was offered a chance to gain some work experience at a Marketing Agency in Reading called Splash of Paint. After some time the work experience turned into full time employment as a Junior Designer, although it wasn't all plain sailing "During my work experience I had to convince my prospective employees that they needed me.
This culminated in an exhibition of my work called "viewpoints" in which I focused on my unique viewpoint and ideas to convince them to employ me, it was a tough but they called me back 48hrs later offering me a job"
After a year in Reading, Luke moved to Exeter, then to Barnstaple to work for Ad Works, working for Bray Leino for two years before setting up his own successful Web Design Business www.thelayer.co.uk in April 2008.
Since starting The Layer Luke has headed up a team of programmers and designers that have now worked with a number high profile clients including The Rumblestrips, Island Records, stock market listed Leni Gas & Oil as well as local and national clients ranging from IT services to recruitment and consulting.
The Layer will be merging with SEO Dynamiks a successful local web marketing company run by Mike Harding, also a former student of North Devon College this April. The "Layer Dynamiks" which will provide a full range of marketing services both for online and offline and aims to become another successful chapter both ex students career.
Luke says " I found my passion for design communication at North Devon College, the course was interesting and gave me the foundation and great folio for my application to Plymouth. All the tutors were great at North Devon especially Ben Liddell, who was pivotal source of inspiration and motivation .
